Common upper age relaxation (central government)
| Category | Relaxation |
|---|---|
| General / EWS | None |
| OBC (Non-creamy layer) | 3 years |
| SC / ST | 5 years |
| PwBD (General / EWS) | 10 years |
| PwBD (OBC) | 13 years |
| PwBD (SC / ST) | 15 years |
| Ex-servicemen | Service period + 3 years (varies) |
State governments set their own rules, and some posts have different limits. Use the extra relaxation box for ex-servicemen, widows, departmental candidates or state rules.
How the age limit is read
"Age 18 to 32 years as on 01/08/2026" means you must have turned 18 by that date and must not have turned 33. The tool shows the matching birth date range, which is how notifications usually print it: "born not before … and not later than …".
Frequently asked questions
What does "age as on" date mean?
It is the cut-off date fixed in the notification. Your age is counted on that date, not on the day you apply.
How much age relaxation does OBC get?
For central government jobs, OBC (non-creamy layer) gets 3 years on the upper age limit. SC and ST get 5 years.
Is the age relaxation added to the minimum age?
No. Relaxation only raises the upper age limit.
Is this calculator accurate for leap years?
Yes. It counts real calendar months and days, including 29 February.
